Founded in 1995, Berekum Arsenal Football Club is a Ghanaian football club based in Berekum, Ghana’s third largest city. They are a member of the Division One League. With a capacity of 5,000, their home stadium is the Berekum Sports Stadium. Berekum Arsenal FC has a rich and storied history, coming up from the Second Division to play in Ghana’s Premier League for 13 years before a temporary relegation to Division One. During this time BAFC produced top players like John Panstil (Fulham), Emmanuel Agyemang Badu (Udinese), Poku Nana (Club Shabab of UAE), and Stephen Sarfo (Tadamon Sour of Lebanon), as well as others who went on to play in other Ghanaian clubs like Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and Liberty Professionals. In July 2019 Berekum Arsenal competed successfully in the Normalization Tournament, defeating many Premier League clubs and reaching the Tier Two semi-finals before losing in a fine and exciting, hard fought match against Asante Kotoko. The club’s name and home kit are inspired by England’s Premier League club Arsenal FC.
