The Africa Economic Dialogue (AFED) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental and politically non-partisan entrepreneurial think tank founded in 2016 as a movement for all entrepreneurs in Africa to take a critical stance to influence policies that affect businesses; that have direct potential influence on our economy. We are the leading voice of businesses in Africa. We are the leading voice of business in Africa. AFED is focused on creating a positive environment for the development of the small and medium- sized enterprise sector in Africa; which represents the driver of the national and regional economy, but also of the economy of the African Union. We provide SME development with the purpose of conducting policy research education & advocacy and influence on public discussion and decision making process in the area of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship. While seemingly intuitive that an economy’s competitive environment has an impact on entrepreneurs, and that, vice versa, entrepreneurs impact and contribute to an economy’s competitiveness, the relationship is more complex than it seems.
