INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINABLE REPORTING (ISR), was incorporated on May 12, 2015 under the Ghana Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179) as a non-governmental organization. ISR offers a variety of management training courses that ensures that businesses operate as centers of excellence in a sustainable and profitable environment. In 2014, GRI issued a call for Training Partners in Sub-Saharan Africa. Environmental & Sustainability Solutions (ESS), a consulting company focusing on sustainability accounting and reporting that has been a GRI Certified Training Partner in South Africa since 2009, subsequently convened a group of organizations to form the new consortium, ACST, namely: CAP Conseil, a Belgian-based research and consulting company with a substantial client base in Africa; Geoflux, an engineering/environmental consulting company in Botswana; INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINABLE REPORTING IN GHANA, a sustainability training organization; and ThistlePraxis Consulting, a management consulting firm based in Nigeria. “We see the appointment of Training Partners in Sub-Saharan Africa as an important step towards the development of local training and consulting capacity, and the promotion of sustainability management and reporting in the huge African marketplace,” says Seakle Godschalk, Executive Director at ESS. “This development consolidates a four-year engagement of GRI in various efforts to mainstream sustainability reporting in Sub-Saharan Africa, and ACST members will be working hard to establish themselves in their respective markets in the coming years.” “We look forward to contributing our quota, not just in order to achieve a great feat, but to ensure sound sustainability practices and successful businesses working towards sustainable development in Africa.”
